Which one is your favorite?

These are the “before & after” of Kaitlyn getting spoiled by her grandparents & aunts.
Can you see the difference?
Well. Let us begin the recap of our summer trip with a few of my favorite shots of Kaitlyn from the trip.
Many of the photos from this trip were taken with the Canon EF 50mm f/1.8 lens that I just got. If you have a DSLR, like taking portraits or close-ups but on a budget, I would highly recommend you getting one (or the Nikkor 50mm f/1.8D lens
if you have a Nikon DSLRs). They are cheap ($80 to $120) plastic lenses but take photos that rival their f/1.4 siblings that cost three to four times more!
FINALLY… after 2 months, the conclusion to the Ling Family Visit in May.

Taking turns to take pictures with the princess (we charge $100 per picture. haha):
Their final day in NY:
We miss you guys! Can’t wait to see you next month!
Okay so we’re REALLY behind when it comes to posts and pictures.. (our bad!).. so Ether’s family came for a visit last month and Kaitlyn had a blast. She really enjoyed the attention and good company. Unfortunately she caught a fever the day that they arrived and it lasted for 4 whole days. So we really didn’t get to go anywhere until after her fever passed. We were able to go to Downtown Philly and the Amish country for a day. Here are some photos from our trip. Just click on the thumbnail photos to see the bigger versions; click on the right-half of the large photos to see the next one.

So as Ether was saying how we were “Glad we weren’t home”, we were at my cousin Brandon and Sarah’s wedding & reception in DC. It was super hot (like 105°F), but it was nice and very special. Here are some pics we took:
Greggy couldn’t get enough of Kaitlyn (or as he calls her “It”). He wanted to hold her standing up & I was sweating!

So far, this summer hasn’t really been like a normal summer. True, there were a few unbearably hot, humid days, but there were also cool, rainy days (like today) & quite a few strangely dry, lower-80s days. And Last Friday was one of those dry, lower-80s days.
Since we needed to get formula for Kaitlyn that day, we were going to just grab something for lunch on the way. But then it was such a nice day, so we decided that we would go & eat our lunch by the ocean, by the Verrazano Bridge. We drove & parked at one of those “scenic view” stops along the Belt Parkway. We spent almost 2 hours there & we walked a short way passed the bridge before turning back. It was nice & relaxing.
Here are some of the pictures that we took. Enjoy!
Since my sister & dad already posted most of the pix from our trip to Utah on their own sites, I’m only going to put a few of my favorites since some of you have already seen them (plus now they’re getting old).

Pix of Kaitlyn & Talon:
DAY 1: Wednesday – May 30
We took an early morning, 7 am direct flight from JFK to SLC. Kaitlyn was pretty good, slept for most of the flight there (and of course the Benadryl that we gave her helped a lot). She was up for the last hour or so of the flight, but she was calm & happy. The lady next to us & an older gentleman in front both complimented how well behaved she was.
We arrived at around noon, & Ether’s sister Jenny picked us up. That evening, Mel’s sister Jennifer, brother-in-law La, & their son Talon came over.

We’ve finally made a dent in re-arranging & cleaning our apartment after 4 days of work. It’s still a mess, & we still need to get dressers/cabinets/shelves/etc. for our stuff & for Kaitlyn’s stuff, but last night we were able to hook up our computers & get back online. So, here’s a sneak peek of the photos we took while we were on our trip to Utah visiting families.
If you’re wondering why there have been no new posts, it’s because we’re on VACATION! We’re having a blast here! We (especially Kaitlyn) enjoy being with family that we haven’t seen for a while. And they have Walmart everywhere!!! =D I’ve been going there almost everyday! I’ve probably gained like 5 pounds already from all the yummy food and chocolate chip cookies I’ve eaten. Kaitlyn is getting lots of attention. She better enjoy it while it lasts because when we get home, she is going to be bored sitting by herself most of the time! But no worries, we’ve taken LOTS of pictures of Kaitlyn & her cousin Talon. We even have a funny video to put up. So just be a little more patient with us, as we are enjoying our time off together! =)
HAPPY ANNIVERSARY to us!!!
It has been a wonderful year and looking forward to many more!! Love you hun!
Us on 05.05.05 (the day he proposed)
Us on 05.05.06 (Wedding Day) & 05.13.06 (NY Reception)
You’ve seen tons of pictures of Kaitlyn; now here are tons of pictures of just us (pre-baby) – These are from our trip to San Francisco in August 2006, some that Ether forgot to post up.
Our happy family 2007
Actually, we arrived Friday night, Aug 4.
Mel’s brother Keith picked us up at the SFO International Terminal (N.Y.C. can really be that foreign from the rest of the country, you know.) Then he took us to In-and-Out for a late-night meal.
MAN! It was so gooood! They got ghetto “uniforms” but great burgers & fries! Unfortunately, it’s the only eat-out meal that I didn’t take a picture of. Sorry people. I failed all of you.

This is how you can take a pix w/ someone who doesn’t want to take it w/ you! Brilliant, Mel. Brilliant!

Alcatraz is right next to Mel’s head. We’ll go there next time.

Our 2nd meal out (“Lunner”—Lunch/Dinner)

Mel was so excited about the food that she actually forgot to take her credit card back after paying!

Check out the good food we got! You can tell that Mel’s starving to dig in though.

All right. Dig in!

You know you’re in a “first world country” when the people are more concerned about the obese pigeons then the hungry ones.

Bubba Gump… May be next time…

Bubba Gump sells shrimp, & Curious George…?

A great shot for a future photography class assignment…

…and another one!

And this is how we ended our first day in San Fran!
We just got back this morning from good ‘ol San Francisco. We had a really good time there. The weather was just beautiful. It was sunny everyday and it was like 60-70 degrees. I actually felt cold even when I wore sweaters/sweatshirts. A lot of the food is cheaper than NY. And it’s good too! You could even find gas for less than $3/gallon in some places. I wish we could have a summer home there so we don’t have to endure the hot/humid/sticky summers here. Someday.
I was really happy to have seen my grandmother and the other family I have in San Fran, whom I haven’t seen in about 8 years. We especially want to thank my brother, grandma, my aunt Anna, and Mary for being so hospitable to us and making our trip fun.
I’m really glad I got to go. It was a wonderful break from work and the other stress. The doc suggested that I drink lots of fluids and get up occasionally on the plane. Believe me, I tried. (Read the next post!)
Pictures to follow, possibly in a few days. Ether didn’t get any sleep and he has to prepare his talk for church tomorrow. You’ll definitely see something in the coming days.
