Two Saturdays ago, Kaitlyn was invited to her classmate Emma’s birthday party at the Build-A-Bear Workshop on 5th Avenue. Here are some photos taken on that day. Enjoy! Continue reading ‘Emma’s Birthday Party’

FINALLY… after 2 months, the conclusion to the Ling Family Visit in May.
Our trip to the city (Top of the Rock @ Rockefeller Center, NBA Store, & Central Park)
Taking turns to take pictures with the princess (we charge $100 per picture. haha):
Their final day in NY:
We miss you guys! Can’t wait to see you next month!
Okay so we’re REALLY behind when it comes to posts and pictures.. (our bad!).. so Ether’s family came for a visit last month and Kaitlyn had a blast. She really enjoyed the attention and good company. Unfortunately she caught a fever the day that they arrived and it lasted for 4 whole days. So we really didn’t get to go anywhere until after her fever passed. We were able to go to Downtown Philly and the Amish country for a day. Here are some photos from our trip. Just click on the thumbnail photos to see the bigger versions; click on the right-half of the large photos to see the next one.

Last Wednesday, since the weather was super nice, we decided to take a walk to Carvel for their Buy 1 Get 1 Free Sundae Day. On the way there, we saw that the playground on 66th St was open again. (It was closed due to the devastation of the small tornado that hit last August.) So we decided to let Kaitlyn try going on a playground swing for the first time. She seemed to enjoy it a bit, but not sure if she was feeling dizzy or not.
Happy 1st Birthday Kaitlyn!!!!!
My how fast 1 year has gone by already.. My baby is now a big girl… well sorta..
On Saturday, we had a mini birthday party with family and her 2 playgroup friends. Our apartment is WAY too small to accommodate everyone that we wanted to invite. So we apologize to those of you who weren’t invited, but we still love you!
Kaitlyn’s Mini Birthday Party on Saturday, Feb 2nd:
So Jen & co came to NY to visit us last week on New Years and stayed for a few days at mom & dad’s. They stayed with us for one night and La was addicted to our Wii. Talon had a blast running around, playing with Kaitlyn’s toys, and pushing Kaitlyn down. Nevertheless Kaitlyn was very amused by him and always wanted to give him kisses. Here are some pictures we took of the cousins in their Santa outfits:
The last few weeks have been a little hectic and Ether’s hard drives started to fail, so I wasn’t able to use his comp to post up any new pix. Here are some pix that we took before & on Christmas.

Kaitlyn’s playdate buddy Darion turns 1 today! His parents threw him a very nice party last Saturday & we were invited. A lot of people were there & the food was excellent! They put in a lot of work & the party was a success! But if we are to have one for Kaitlyn next year, it’ll definitely be a small & simple one!
Last Saturday, Kaitlyn had her 3rd playdate at the Yau’s home. We all had a good time and we celebrated Ether’s birthday as well. He finally got better that day, so he was able to eat with us!
We attended Anita & Kyan’s wedding ceremony & banquet on 10/6. The ceremony was short & beautiful. The banquet was fun & the food was good. And yes, we are just posting up the pix now. =P
Although the dresses were meant for Kaitlyn to wear when she turns 1, 2, & possibly 3 years old respectively, nobody expects my parents to wait that long to see Kaitlyn tries out the dresses.
First up, Kaitlyn in a long red dress/Qi Pao/Kei Pou:

Last, but not least, Kaitlyn in an ethnic dress that her Auntie JingYi got her in Shanghai:

Friday was my parents’ 30th wedding anniversary. So we went out to lunch at the excellent Big Wing Wong in Chinatown. (They probably have the best chefs & ghetto-est waiters in Chinatown!) As you can see, the food was so good that we forgot to take pictures of it.
After lunch, we took them to a jewelry place to pick out new rings. Then we all had our rings engraved at another location. While we were waiting, Melanie & my Mom picked out some traditional Chinese dresses for Kaitlyn next door (see next post).
That evening, we went to Olive Garden together with Mel’s parents. The wait was long, the food was pasta, & the time we had together was great (& our parents had fun “fighting” for the check)!
We capped off the evening with a trip to BabiesR’Us next to the restaurant.
We have had our eyes on a day crib (one that can be converted to a full-size bed) from there for quite a while. And since Kaitlyn is outgrowing the porta-crib that we got from a friend’s friend, we decided that it’s time to get it.
But just like many things, we didn’t have to go deep into our pockets & pay for it ourselves. We are so blessed to have awesome parents, relatives, & friends who help us out a great deal in many ways. Everybody gives us baby clothes; friends spoil us with dinners & gift cards; parents let us use their car; aunts help us with parking tickets; uncle gives us cool baby toys & books; brothers & sisters get us even more baby clothes. This night was no exception. My parents insisted on paying for Kaitlyn’s crib. They ended up choosing an even nicer one. It’s so popular that we’ll have to pick it up later because it’s out of stock.
It was one very happy day for all of us.
Tomorrow’s post: Photoshoot!
Vietnamese sandwiches always go well with a short stroll along the shore on a nice afternoon.
Tomorrow: Anniversary!
BUFFET:
My parents arrived on Mel’s & her Mom’s birthday, so we all went to the nice buffet on the corner of 86 Street & 19 Ave in Bensonhurst.
…& Kaitlyn just sat in her car seat without a fuss as we enjoyed our feast.
DINNER:
Another great thing about both of our parents is they make great food! While my parents were here, dinners were taken care of, of course. So are the dishes. (thanks Dad!)

Tomorrow’s post: outing!
It’s amazing how time flies! My parents were here for 10 days & they’re already on a flight back to Salt Lake as I’m typing this! Needless to say, Kaitlyn is spoiled rotten. Melanie is going to have “fun” with her for the next few days, as Kaitlyn adjusts back to a less exciting/entertaining life.
Here’s a recap of the kind of fun we had for the past 10 days.
Spoiled Princess:
What are grandparents good for if they don’t spoil their grandchildren? That’s why I still love my grandparents to this day!
Here are some pics of my parents bonding & spoiling Kaitlyn.
Tomorrow’s post: food!
