These pictures are especially for Helen yee-yee to view because Kaitlyn is wearing the outfit she bought her:
What does it look like she’s doing or saying? Just for fun, let’s be creative & leave some funny captions in the “comments” & we’ll see who can come up w/ the best one! What do you say?
We are finally giving her diluted prune juice (under the doctor’s instruction, of course) to ease her constipation, after trying out 3 different kinds of formula in 2 months with no real success. Since she’s over 2 months old now, her digestive tracts should be able to handle more than just milk. So we are giving her 1 oz of prune juice mixed w/ 1 oz of water, twice a day. It may be a little early to tell, but just after 1 day of the not-so-yummy juice, the floodgate finally gave in & poop came rushing out this morning. It was mushy & no more rock-hard poop (literally)! The constipation was causing quite a bit of discomfort before. In fact, she usually skipped the crying & went straight to the screaming whenever it hurt, as Mel pointed out. So, to relieve the pain, we tried anything from putting her in the squat position, to rubbing her belly, to putting her upside down, to exercising her legs, to putting my pinkie up her butt.
Sometimes they work, sometimes they don’t. Sometimes she likes it, sometimes she doesn’t.

I love this face!! It’s so funny. And she kinda looks like Talon..
Pictures of her during feeding:
The Asian Squat for babies: This is how we hold her when she needs to poop. Makes it easier for her to push.
Grandpa Eng picked this outfit from Gap for her.. Cute huh?
Today Kaitlyn and I took a little trip out to the city. It was her first time riding the MTA. I think she liked it.. She was really good. She fell asleep and woke up a few times but was not fussy at all. So where did we go? We went to meet daddy for lunch because poor daddy had to go to school on his day off to support his club’s fund raiser and will be there all day long. We miss him very much! We will miss him even more when he goes away next weekend for a convention. =( Anyway, we ate at Dallas BBQ. Yummmm!! I haven’t been there for a long, long time. We sat at a booth so I laid Kaitlyn down next to me. We had the Early Bird Special – 2 half Honey Basted Chickens with french fries and Chicken Vegetable soup. We also ordered a half plate of Vegetable Tempura. (It’s quite big for half a plate.) We both couldn’t finish it of course so we doggy-bagged it. Good lunch!
I just can’t fathom how fast time goes by. Our 1 year anniversary is coming up soon. Well I guess after having a baby, it feels like we’ve been married longer though. Then I was reminiscing the time I was in the hospital after giving birth to Kaitlyn and how excited I was everytime they brought her in so I could feed her. That was 2 1/2 months ago. Now she is getting so big. She’s catching up to her cousin Talon. She’s already 12 lbs. Cousin Talon is 20 lbs at 8 months. Another thing is I can’t believe my cousin Brandon is getting married this year. I guess I always think of him as my little cousin. He’s 23 now. Well I’m happy for him. Congrats, if you’re reading this by any chance!
Sorry, no new pics for this entry. We haven’t transferred any from the camera yet, plus Ether is using some new program now, so I don’t know what’s going on with that. Will post some up soon ok!
Here are a ton of pictures that we’ve taken over the past week:
She’s just getting bigger and bigger every week, isn’t she? She’s so heavy!
Had enough eye candy for the day? I’m expecting some comments people!!
Well, this is day 3 since Kaitlyn made the switch to soy-based formula. She does seem to get much less gassy, or at least less painful gas.
As to whether she likes it or not, we don’t know. I mean she drinks it. But it really smells like dry dog food!
I hope she will be able to sleep through the night soon!!!
Even though Kaitlyn is 2 months old, she still hasn’t been able to sleep through the night yet. I think the longest she has gone for without waking up is 4 hours. She seems to have a very sensitive digestive system & sometimes has a hard time pooping. So she ends up with painful gas & that sometimes wakes her up in the middle of the night. And when she’s up, she gets hungry. When she’s hungry, she can’t wait.
Last week, I had to get up at around 3 o’clock in the morning to feed her. Everything was routine. However, it only took about 30 minutes for her to finish almost 6 oz. of formula. It was kind of quick, since she usually falls asleep in the middle of early morning feedings. So almost an hour after finishing her bottle, she was still wide awake, making sounds, refusing to go to sleep. It was almost 4:30 a.m. & I was a bit frustrated. I missed my blue blanket but she was staring at me with those big bug eyes, as if she was saying to me, “Neh-neh-NEH-neh-neh!”
I stopped rocking her & decided to just put her down on the couch, hoping she would get sleepy on her own. Instead, she burped & spilled milk all over her one-sie!
Arrrrrh!
I was tired, so I just took whatever I could find & just put it on her. I then put her down next to me on the couch. She began smiling & making faces at me!
Bored, I took out the camera & started taking pictures of her. Then I remember one time there was a conversation with Keith, my bro-in-law, about how all kids have a dorky picture at some point in their lives.
Ah-HAH!
Realizing that Kaitlyn was wearing a pair of pants that was a bit too long for her, I decided that it was time for her first dorky pictures. I pulled her pants up higher and, “snap!”

With me taking pictures of her pants up to her chest, it didn’t take long before she realized she was messing with the wrong parent. She started fussing & soon after she felt asleep.
Daddy knows best & that’s for sure! Kaitlyn was exactly 8 weeks old last Saturday & so she had her 3rd appointment with Dr. Chou. Before the appointment we all guessed how much she weighed. And what do you know? I guessed 11 lbs. & she came out to be exactly 11 lbs.! I think last time I also had the closest guess. I was only off by 1 oz.Anyway, along with the check-up & measurements, she also got her shots. In fact, she got her 2nd, 3rd, 4th & 5th shots in that one visit! We had the choice of spreading it out to 2 visits, but we figured it’s best to just get it over with, so we kissed Kaitlyn, said “sorry!” & “poor thing!” and then handed her over to Dr. Evil… I mean Dr. Chou. :-p
We ended up with 4 Looney Tunes Band-Aids on the thighs of a screaming baby. As expected, she fussed for the rest of the day. However, no fever, no nothing! We were even able to take her to church the next day. What a blessing!
We decided to do a little photo shoot at home yesterday. Equipped with a tripod, dad’s (aka “Gung-Gung”) nice Canon Digital Rebel XT camera, the futon, a cushion & a soft red bean bag, we set up our own little photo studio right in the living room.
She was uncharacteristically cooperative & calm for almost 20 minutes. That gave us enough time to take some nice pictures and so here you go. Enjoy!
